Pakistan will face Cambodia on October 12 and 17
Stephen Constantine-led Pakistan is all set to play Cambodia in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers. — PFFThe Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Wednesday announced a 25-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier where the Green Shirts are scheduled to take on Cambodia.The squad was chosen by the newly-appointed coach Stephen Constantine, who will lead the Men in Green in the World Cup Qualifiers.
This will be Constantine’s first assignment as the head coach and he has made some interesting calls as the former captain Hassan Bashir isn’t a part of the squad along with Saqib Hanif and Adnan Yaqoob.On the other hand, important players like Otis Kha, Easah Suliman, Rao Umar Hayat are called up.Squad:Goalkeepers: Usman Ali, Salman ul Haq and Yousaf Butt.Defenders: Mamoon Moosa Khan, Mohibullah, Sohail Khan, Juniad Shah, Ali Khan Niazi, Rao Umar Hayat, Abdullah Iqbal and Easah Suliman.Midfielders: Alamgir Ghazi, Ali Uzair, Rajab Ali, Nizamuddin, Harun Hamid and Rahis Nabi.Forwards: Waleed Khan, Mohammad Waheed, Yousuf, Fareed Khan, Abdul Samad, Otis Khan, Moin Ahmed and Shayak Dost.
A massive assignment awaits Constantine as Pakistan have not won their last eight games and with just two weeks to prepare for the Qualifiers, it will be interesting to see how well he translates his ideas to the players.PFF sacked previous coach Shehzad Anwar following the side's poor performances and the Pakistani side will now play an important with a new coach and without some key players like Abdullah Shah and Hassan Bashir.It must be noted that Constantine is one of the most experienced coaches in Asia. After starting his managerial career, he coached the Nepal national team for two years before taking over the realm of the Indian football team.The 60-year-old led India to a silver medal at the 2003 Afro-Asian Games in 2003 and then the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship in 2016, during his second stint with the Blues. Under his leadership, India also won the Intercontinental Cup in 2018 after which he was named the Coach of the Year in the country.Pakistan will face Cambodia in the World Cup Qualifiers' first leg in Cambodia on October 12, followed by their home leg on October 17.
